Floating By

Busy, busy, busy -- so here are a few pics I took the other night of an approaching thunderstorm. You can click on any of them for a larger image.

And this one is my favorite. Looks like a horse rearing back on its hind legs.

We got a lot of wind some small pea size hail and .20 inches of rain but the majority of this storm passed to my south where it spawned a few tornadoes and larger hail, but most of that happened over barren country. I'll try to get a real post up tomorrow.

  1. Travis, this is a real post. The photos are lovely. I'd like to see some of the native plants to your area.

  4. Love them! So how many of us writers spent hours on our backs in the grass as kids, staring up at the clouds and seeing magical creatures, monsters, and stories?

  6. Love that Horse cloud. I certainly used to spend a lot of time laying back, looking at clouds. I used to imagine them as battle ships drifting over, or an alien fleet, or I would see great pirate battles in the sky.

  8. Beautiful. I love the first one. We counted seven trees down a few blocks over from us. Too much rain. It can stop anytime. We won't mind here in Indiana.

  18. I'll just parrot everyone else since I'm late to the party.

What's wrong with posting pictures? I've been known to do it once or twice.

My vote is for that top photo too.

  21. Great pictures! When I was growing up in Pittsburgh, PA, we used to have lots of summer thunderstorms. Mom and Dad and I would sit outside on the front porch to watch and enjoy the cooler weather. We don't get many here in So. Cal. so a thunderstorm always an event. LOL, two drops of rain and the local news teams go on "Storm Watch".

  22. Those are CRAZY clouds! All we've had are grey skies for the past two weeks.

  23. As you mentioned on my blog, your weather climes are much different than ours...a summer storm while strong at times rarely, rarely turns into something nasty or potentially nasty. These photographs are awesome.
