Choose Your Team Wisely

You can be one of the glittery enamored and wear the shirt above to feel like a teenage girl.

Or you can howl at the moon and scratch fleas while wearing this shirt.

But all the cool people are getting aboard a new team ...

No, I have no clue who that dude is or even what kind of critter that is on the shirt. The above picture was captured somewhere in Hawaii by my friend Cloudia Charters. If you've never visited her blog you are missing out. Via her camera lens, choice of daily quotes, and personal thoughts she gives her readers a unique look at paradise.

I'm late to the party but just finished reading Sara Gruen's Water For Elephants. Fabulous novel. I highly recommend you pick it up if you have not.

I worry about the upcoming movie screwing up the story. and I cannot picture the previously mentioned Edward, or Robert Pattinson if you will, playing Jacob. No not Jacob the werewolf. Jacob Jankowski, the circus vet and protagonist in Water for Elephants. However, I can totally see Reese Witherspoon playing Marlena. Not sure who plays August and while I imagine Ian McShane is a bit old I couldn't help but visualize him in that role.

Has anyone read Sara Gruen's latest? I think it's called Ape House. Just curious if it as compelling.

I didn't even know there was a movie coming out based on Water for Elephants. I'm not sure I want to see it. It's such an amazing story, and I'm not sure how it will translate to the big screen. I'll wait to see what others think before I see it, I guess.

Loved the book! I'm leary about the movie version, too, but still want to see it.

I haven't read Water for Elephants, yet. I have it on my humongous TBR pile, but...

So, what does Travis do when exposed to sunlight? Full-moonlight? Why should I pick team Travis when there are sparklers and dog-boys? Oh, wait. I just answered my own question.

Yay for Team Travis!! LOL!!

That's a brilliant pic - shame the creature illustrated is a bit erm.. weird.

Nevermind -it's the wording that counts!

Oooh thanks for that thumbs up for Water for Elephant - a very intriguing title!

Take care

I'd definitely prefer Team Travis. The other options make me want to puke. Mightily.

The really spooky thing here is that about 30 seconds before I happened upon your post, I wrote down 'Hannah Gruen, Water for Elephants'. A writing pal of mine recommended it strongly as a great example of a whole new world being described aptly in a non-expositional manner. As soon as our town library opens, I'm going to go order it.

I'd join Team Travis over Team Edward (or other) any old day. And I want a Team Mary.

I'm very disturbed that Pattinson is playing Jacob. I really want Paul Bettany, even though I know he's too old. I hadn't heard about Reese, but I love her.

Hmmm...I think I'll stick with my Team Bass Pro shirt. Although I do like Team Travis the best of these three options.

I read "Water for Elephants" about a year ago and was excited about the movie. I think Robert Pattison is much better suited for this role than Edward. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this movie!

Team Travis! LOL!

Well you can't be too late to the party, I am yet to read Water for Elephants. You are one up on me. I didn't know there was a new book out. Now I need to get both of them!

Thanks for finding my blog.

Read water for elephants a couple of years ago. Loved it and passed it around. The book is still travelling I'm sure. Can't recall if it was her first attempt, but her method was quite clever and the question/answer piece in the back was interesting.

I concur. Water for Elephants is a great effort. Read it a couple of years ago and released it. Anxious to see the movie when it comes out on DVD.

I've read all those books, and didn't know we had to pick sides. I don't suppose a "team elephant" would look good on a middle aged woman.

I keep forgetting I want to read that book! I don't have a copy but I's been on my list for a long time. I know you're a YA novel reader (aren't you?) Have you read the Hunger games Trilogy? Amazing!
