Thy River Runs Red

There are rights in this world ...

and there are wrongs ...

And we can't fix everything, so sometimes we remain silent despite our inclination to speak up.

But some issues arises that force us the speak up. The climb to the highest peak around and shout at the top of our lungs.

Here is one such issue ...

Come on Man. The words PHILLY CHEESE STEAK should never I repeat NEVER follow the word chicken.

Chickens have breasts, legs, thighs, gizzards, feet, necks, and even giblets, but there ain't a single steak anywhere to be found anywhere on a yard bird my friends. Don't let this happen. Don't let the health nuts muddy the blood red waters of Steak River.

Stand with me on this and boycott anything called a chicken steak. If you ask me this so called Philly is nothing but a glorified panini and in case you wonder how I feel about that horrendous moniker check out this post.

Is chicken-fried steak okay?

Travis Erwin said...

Yes Debra, you have found the loop hole for a chicken fried steak is not actually fowl but beef fried in a chickenly manner.

But I for one never order chicken fry as it is the choice for the elderly without string teeth for chewing good steak and the timid with one foot in the I only eat fish and chicken grave. And they usually serve chicken friend steak with cream gravy which i cannot abide by. Brown gravy however is the nectar of the gods.

Fear not, my fuzzy friend...I wouldn't touch that box with a ten-foot pole. That abomination has "trans fat" and "artificial" written all over it. Not to mention the sodium content found in such concoctions. Gives me chills just thinking about it all. I'll take a good 'ol grilled chicken breast any day. (upon a bed of sauteed spinach, of course!)

By the way...the word verification for that last post was: "colopoo". Did this phase me? Nope...not one bit!

Angie, send me an invite and I am there.

Nerdy Poet - How dare a holy man like yourself blasphemy meat with the spinach?

tornadoalleycrossfit said...

HA! I never said I was holy...I just said I was trying to be. :)

Technically, chicken is poultry, not meat. So, Poet's ok.

That said, I suggest avoiding most fried food unless you make it at home. Know why? Cuz most eateries use... dun dun dun.... VEGETABLE oil!

Fear not- should you ever travel north, I only use butter, lard, bacon grease, beef fat, goose fat, duck fat, chicken fat, and coconut oil to cook in. :-D I will, however, add a sprig of parsley just to make you mad.

Thanks for backing me up, WordVixen! I do my best to torment Travis with greenery whenever possible. :)

My daughter is eating a raw food, vegan, diet for the whole month of January. She says she is feeling better than ever, want me to send you the info Travis, sure you don't want to feel "better than ever" too?

Travis Erwin said...

Charles I can eat chicken fired steak but not my fave and I despise cream gravy.

WordVixen said...

Poet- Anytime! I'm always in support of tormenting Travis. Muahahahahaha!

Travis Erwin said...

bookbabie - Far be it me to criticize your offspring, but I'll arm wrestle any vegan you find to prove such diet makes you weak of mind and body.

tornadoalleycrossfit said...

Now, Travis...I'm pretty sure Bigfoot himself would lose to you in an arm wrestling contest, but that doesn't mean you need to go picking on those of us who care for our bodies. (says the guy who just came from a pizza buffet) On another note, I'd love to read more about the diet that bookbabie referenced. :)
