Burger From Hell -- A My Town Monday Post

A few days ago, February 17th to be exact marked the one year mark for My Town Monday. I can't believe that much time has gone by. I've missed some weeks as this post makes the 40th MTM I have put up. In honor of the occasion I'm going to go back this week and take a closer look at a place I've mentioned before. Actually that is a lie I'm taking the easy way out and posting a video of someone else taking a closer look.

Last August when I posted my 25th My Town Monday post I did a little MTM questionnaire. In it I listed Coyote Bluff as one of my favorite places to eat here in town.

Well, Adam Richman from the Travel Channel's Man Versus Food show recently did an episode on Amarillo. And one of the places he hit was Coyote Bluff. This fine establishment is less than a mile from my workplace and we head that way for lunch as often as we can. This video oughta explain my ample waistline.

And for the record, no I do not order the Burger From Hell. Y'all should no better given my vow to never eat anything green. Repeat after me Lettuce is the Devil, and all other veggies are his evil disciples. Forget that junk that grows in the garden. I do my grocery shopping at the butchers counter, therefore I up the meat factor and order the bacon cheeseburger, with meat and cheese only. Coyote Bluff doesn't skimp on the bacon either. You saw how they heap that cheese on. It's the same way with those tasty little pork strips that I find irresistible. And yes, I do order the cheese fries with my burger. Trust me when i say you will not find better fries anywhere.

Who's hungry?

  2. There is nothing like food, Travis.
    Re: lettuce
It's not food. It's what food eats!

    Happy Anniversary! Great job.

President Obama bought himself a Beavertail in Ottawa. Now that's good eatin'! I put a word in for that fair city. I lived there 25 years.

  3. You sound even more extreme than Charles, who tends to have his vegetables primarily in occassional "V8" form. *L* Ironically, however, he did suggest we buy a Caesar kit at the grocery store today. Perhaps he has a fever...

  4. I ate lunch at Coyote Bluff just yesterday, Travis! I split cheese fries with my brother and we each had a burger. Mine was a green chile cheeseburger. I could only eat half of it. Delicious. It was cold in there, though! I think their heater was on the blink. Still well worth the shivering.

  5. Oh man, Travis, I hate to see a man determined to die young. I mean, seriously. Mind, I would like to try that burger.

    *waves at Jenn from Ottawa*

  6. LOL, you sound like my brother's girlfriend. She doesn't do veggies either. I, on the other hand, hardly ever eat beef, due to an unnatural fear of mad cow disease. :)

No MTM for me this week, but I hope to have one next week.

  10. Damn.

The next time I want to blow my sugar sky high and have indigestion for a week, I want a burger from hell and a order of chili cheese fries.

I'll even make a special trip to Amarillo just to experience it.

  15. You sound just like my son, "vegetables are the devil!" His first words when he comes to visit: "Make me meat!" Fun post! Enjoy your burger, and bacon, and cheese.

My MTM post is up (early today).

  16. Well, I'M hungry, but that's because of all the lettuce and green stuff you mentioned towards the end of this post -- I'm your food opposite...

Still, Coyote Bluff looks fantastic and I wish I could go there and buy a burger for my famiy. We'd all have a fifth of it and go home stuffed.

  19. I believe the dairy on the burger makes the pepper more palatable on the tongue...but then we'll never know because Mr. Erwin refuses to test it for us far and away folks. ha ha ha ha ha ha

  20. Mmm, we're sorely lacking good burgers here.

I posted about my town today, but you may want to check it to see if it's worthy of including in the list.

  21. Hi Travis, I've done another brief MTM today...

  22. I find it hilarious that Google ads has placed a video for Nordstroms below this post. You can't get much different than Nordstroms and Coyote Bluff.

I also had four followers leave after this post. Maybe they were vegetarians and were offended by my subject matter. Though i would have guessed I'd driven off any veggie lovers that sensitive long ago.

  23. Damn that looks good. I don't know if I could handle that many jalapenos though.

  29. Aside from the peppers and the enormous portions that looks pretty good. Not a veggie fan either, I'll have what you're having Travis.

Congrats on one year and thank you for starting the MTM's.

I'll be back with one next week.

  30. You are flinging a Steve Earle craving on me, Travis.

Think I can buy that CD en route to DFW manana? Because I don't have my freakin' ipod loaded yet.

    I know, shoot me.

  36. Interesting that you had four followers disengage themselves.

Seems to be the week for it.

    Too bad that they did.

You is a gifted individual and I'm proud to be a follower of you.
