I'm a nice guy. Really, I am

Have any of you ever heard of this television show on the Oxygen channel called Snapped?

If not here is a description of the show straight from the above linked to website.

About Snapped

Each year, approximately 16,000 people are murdered in the United States. 7% of the killers are female.*

Who are these women and what drives them to kill? Oxygen's hit true crime series Snapped in its 5th season, profiles the fascinating cases of women accused of murder. Did they really do it? And, if they did, why? Whether the motivation was revenge against a cheating husband, the promise of a hefty insurance payoff or putting an end to years of abuse, the reasons are as varied as the women themselves. From socialites to secretaries, female killers share one thing in common: at some point, they all Snapped.

Suddenly, this is my wife's favorite thing to watch.

I'm not cheating.(nobody would have me even if I had the inclination, which I don't.)

I do have a bit of life insurance, but not exactly what most would call hefty.

And if I abused me wife she'd sew me up in the sheet while I slept and beat me with a broom handle Willie Nelson style.

Actually me and my wife get along great. Sure we bicker but we've never had a real fight. Still it makes a man stop and think when his wife watches a marathon, or as I like to describe it, a day long instructional video on how to ff your husband or boyfriend and get away with little or no punishment. Not that a good percentage of the bastards didn't deserve it. They're not all nice guys like me.

What do y'all think should I be worried?

Nothing to worry about as long as the wife is open about watching the show. However - if she ever starts to deny that she watches it - run, Travis, run like hell!

Actually, what I think is that Oxygen and Lifetime should be banned from the airwaves. Or the optical cable lightwaves.

So, do any of the stories involve women who commit murder because they're evil? Or are they all driven beyond the limits by bad men or a bad society, or something of that sort?

Actually, I agree with David on this one - when a man commits murder, we don't automatically look for his reasoning (how was the poor lad victimized - what drove him to this?) Certainly, extenuating circumstances should be taken into account - but that's with any case, not just women's...

Now, Travis, should you worry? Well, when she starts pointing out the mistakes the murderess made before the program ends... ala, "No, you idiot, don't leave your cigarette butts in the ashtray, they can get dna from that!" - well, then you might have a problem...

They are true stories...how ever some of them are plain evil...and disturbed.

This is why I am a writer...If you really want to get revenge, plan it out with malicious intent and then write the story, get it published and your deed will be done.

I have killed off a number of people with intent in my stories and there are times where I think this has been better than any kind of "real" therapy.

Me

well, I don't think you should be worried. then again, I have a couple stacks of serial killer books, two books about poison, and in insatiable fascination with crime shows (fiction and non).

really, it's all research for my writing, but I have worried some of the people in my life...
