I Don't Wanna, But My Wife Says I Gotta

If I don't put up any new posts after this just assume I succumbed to a heart attack during the so-called fun run. I haven't ran a mile since sometime around the ninth grade.

Yep, today is the day. But I trained hard yesterday. For breakfast I only had one sausage and cheese croissant instead of two. Add in the four chicken and queso soft tacos I consumed for lunch. the two mid-afternoon donuts, the cheese whopper for supper and the ham and cheese sandwich for a bedtime snack and I should have sufficient energy for the race.

My only goal is to avoid an ambulance ride. Once upon a time I was in decent shape, back when I worked at the feedstore, and refereed high school football, and played hockey. These days I'm still in shape but sadly that shape is now round.

For those of you who live in Amarillo don't worry if you feel the ground shaking shortly after 8 AM. It's not an earthquake, it's just me running.

What the hell was my wife thinking? She better have a cold beer waiting at the finish line.

Oh, what fun on a Saturday morning! (I'd almost swap with you. I've got mandatory work day at the high school baseball field to clean up damage from Gustav.) eww. Remember to pace yourself.

A cold beer, some Advil, and a great big dinner.

Good luck, big guy!

Maybe this is part of your wife's nefarious plan to move you out of the picture. ;o)

I'm sure you'll do fine. You know, if you don't have some sort of infarction.

My wife and I walk a couple miles everyday and I hate it but afterwards I'm glad I did. Good luck!

LOL, what a menu yesterday! ;)

Good luck! I hope it goes well, so lots of money is earned and you feel good about your part at the end of the day. Let us know how it goes.

LOL! My husband was out of bed at 6:30 going to the gym (this is not normal behavior). I was wondering if hell froze over.

Now I know that indeed, hell is a little frosty this morning.

Don't worry, tomorrow is Sunday & you guys can sit on the couch watching football all day. To do anything else would probably give Me & Mrs. T a heart attack.

Uh, Travis, in case there's a next time, carb loading is the way to go before an athletic event to have the most energy. Fat loading makes you sluggish and makes the event even more unpleasant.

Kudos for listening to your wife. I hope she has a nice reward waiting for you.

Please don't tell me you'll be wearing one of those fanny packs.....

For peace of mind, stop by Walmart and pick up a defibrillator on your way.

I'm not sure if it's an actual scientific study, but I've been hearing a lot (it has to be on NPR or PRI programs) that the happiest marriages are those in which the husband pretty much does what his wife wants him to do.

You should have a long and happy marriage.
