Along with learning about various places around the globe one of the cool things about My Town Monday's is the different ways people present their town. Last week, Jenny Jill did a little pictorial slide show set to music. This week I am copying her with one of my own, with shots of Amarillo that are from what most would consider the wrong side of the tracks. Thought I's give you some images of things not likely to be found in the Chamber of Commerce pamphlets. Every single image is from inside the city of Amarillo. All were taken by me within the last few days and it's all set to the musical stylings of some fine looking Texas boys ... ZZ Top.

I get to be first! This is great---I love ZZ Top--always have. And you are sooooo good at this that you have my posts before I told you that they're up. Whatta guy.
I've just read your short story.
You're a great writing.
best wishes and good luck in all you do.
Annie
Hi Travis,
What a great video. Leave it to you to push the beef. Is that bumper sticker on your car??
My MTM post will be up over on Women of Mystery at about 7:45AM EST Monday Morning.
Thanks for this great music on a great video.
Terrie
Slide show is very nicely done!
OU 65 Texas Tech 21...Yep we can handle the Red Raiders.
You broke my heart enough this week. I'm afraid to play it.
Mine goes up at 11:00 PM, a very special post for a great Detroit writer.
Don't say you copied me, Travis, say you borrowed my idea! Of course, if you put it on the Internet it will happen! That is like death and taxes - they are sure to happen.
How many original ideas are there, anyway?
I have been proud to work with people who are survivors. My MTM post talks about Victim Services. Our trainer is a survivor, and I laud her spirit.
We are all in on your MTM bandwagon. It makes like interesting. Keep up the great work!
P.S. Did I motivate an old dog to learn new tricks?! :-)
Thanks for the tour of the town. And the fact the tour was conducted by a great guitar band was a nice bonus. :)
Good inside view with great accompanying musical choice. If I'm ever over that way, I might stop in at Screaming Mimi's for some new art. :)
hi Travis,
I thank you for following my blog.
anyway, are you hobby in fishing, I look at your primary photo.
I have a friend from UK. He really keen on fishing. you can visit him at http://manchesterfishingfiend.blogspot.com/
perhaps you'll get a similarities with him...
enjoy blogging,
keep writing
Woo Hoo! I bar hopped Texas (I'm visiting next August...although I'm not sure exactly where yet, still cool to have a lead in, and great tunes, no less.
But, yeah, strange but true, it doesn't look altogether different from middle-Ontario small cities. (Waves Muskoka Jill...we're practically neighbours)
(Waves to Spy, too, who directed traffic)
Great pics, I like the white wolf in the window above the door of that one place. ZZ Top, oh yea.
I'm thinking I might join in MTM next week... or maybe after I move to my new town in a coupla weeks... soon anyway!
ZZ Top, haven't listened to them in years, but still great.
My post is up, Travis.
Love ZZ Top.
Hi Travis.
Two things.
First, I have tried numerous times over the last few hours to view the whole slideshow.
At just about 2 min into the slideshow, everything stops. The whole production will load, but nothing is played after 2 min.
Should there be more? My system shows that it goes to 5:45, but no sound, fury, or pictures comes forth..
Second, you drive good traffic off of Travis Street...
What libatory offering is required to shift from being a blog that you follow on your profile page, to being a blog that updates on the side of your blog? You know, one that when the blog updates, it jumps up on your sidebar list? :)
I would love to know...
Cheers,
Chris
PS I owned a copy of Eliminator in high school. Or grade school. I don't remember, but who knew that those boys were still around... and touring! Are those gentlemen behind the beards the same ones as the original band?
Them boys can play geetar, must be all of the beef they got to eat as kids. Some of those shots were as if they had been taken 'round my town.
Good Morning, Travis. I wrote about the fences of Kentucky. Thank you in advance for the link.
I loved your slideshow and the ZZ Top song. We are big ZZ Top fans here at our house.
And while I'm here, thanks so much for your parenting posts. I'm sure it was hard to recount, but I know it will help others out there. No one knows how hard those dark hours can be until they walk down that path, or at least hold someone's hand while they are walking.
Maybe Jim Winter is willing to talk about Cincinnatti with us.

wow, that is so freaking cool! great job man.
That was so cool. I should've taken notes because there were a ton of things I wanted to comment on. The only thing I can remember was one of my nicknames in college was Stumpy. Nice to know there's a bar with that name. :)
Who's ready for Z Z TOP?
ME ME ME. Cool slide show.
Travis, I loved this!!
What a great slide show.
Maybe one of these Mondays I'll join you and offer up a look at where I live, though I doubt I'd be able to put together anything quite so slick :)
Travis, I enjoyed your slide show up to about 2:45 minutes, at which point it quit on me. Perhaps it was because I was eating a salad as I watched? I waited for it to load more, but it seemed that it was loaded and still did not go on. Perhaps it is my computer. It's rainy here today in KY, so maybe everything is slower today.
Thanks for the chuckle. Those pictures were great.
I loved this! some great pics:)And yup---loved the bumper sticker too:))
First off, what's a SpudNut? Just curious.
And it stopped showing pictures after the bumper sticker "eat more beef, the west wasn't won on salads"--at least for me it did.
But very creative. I wish I had the know-how to do make a slideshow like that.
I've just staring blogging and have just written a MTM post about my Kentucky town. My blog is called chuckcchatter
Hi Travis, I have not managed a post this week, too much else happening. I love your slide show, although I am worried about whatever that is under the plastic bag in one of the early photos, is it a left over from CSI??
Izzydee, I wondered the same thing. A body? I watch too much "Bones".
Travis, that's incredible!!!
Oh yeah, and my MTM is up. Palm Springs this week. Yes, I was away AGAIN!
That bag is covering the tent of a homelss person. There is a cat standing just in front of the tent.
Also the vidoe ended with the bumper sticker so I'm not sure why it goes on after that.
A spudnut is a donut made from potato flour rather than wheat flour. They are quite tasty.
Very cool post. This really gives a feel for Amarillo. The only Amarillo I know is from the Route 66 song...
WHy do I think the bumper sticker is on YOUR car?
Great tour, Travis... I might like your town, if they don't make fun of my accent.
Amarillo looks like a colorful place. Great photos...it looks flat & hot there...but not boring.
Hi Travis - am visiting for the first time and enjoyed the show. I spent a few days in Amarillo earlier this year on a trip through the Panhandle - loved it.
I like the fact that your pictures are quirky. Call and see my blog sometime.
Eat beef the west wasn't won on salad! As one who raises beef cattle, I salute you!
Great MTM post
Loved the slide show. I grew up in San Jacinto (teen years) on Fairmont St. I enjoy your blog.
Steve
Oh Travis!
Great signs and EVERYTHING. Wow.
Now I want to ride my motorcycle around your town - looks like many layers of fun might be uncovered.
You Rock! Aloha-
Kewl. I would have liked it no matter what, the music was worth it. :)
What I learned about Amarillo that I didn't already know: Y'all have some mighty uniquely named bars.
