I'm back from my fishing trip.A very successful fishing trip I might add. Well. except for the unplanned swim both me and my cell phone took.
Anyway before I share any of my angling adventures I wanted to take a quick survey. Lots of people commented before I left that maybe I would catch a bigger fish and replace my profile pic.
The picture all of you are so familiar with was taken in 2006 at Lake Ray Roberts north of Dallas. it is of me holding a nearly five pound largemouth bass. Five pounds is a decent size largemouth but far from spectacular.
This picture is of my biggest catch this past week.
That is a 7 pound 6 ounce striped bass. Pretty good size for the lake I was fishing in but not all that big compared to the size they catch other places. So y'all tell me, stick with the old or change to the new?

YOU look better in the old one.
I kind of like the new one.
Nice fish! :-)
New.
:)
Go new! But why aren't you smiling?!
dang!!! big fish!!
I was smiling on the inside.
What's for dinner? Fish?
You got an award. (Which seems to me a lot like being tagged.)
Go for the new one -- onwards and upwards!
I like the old one best . . . but I always hate it when people change their blog around. (I know, it's silly. I like the comfort of the familiar visuals.)
Thanks for visiting me, Travis. Have you ever fished in Lake Whitney? It's not too far from Cranfills Gap.
I like the pop of the red t-shirt.
That's one huge fish!
I'm with Bee—it makes me nervous when someone changes their blog picture (or when they use an image instead of a picture of their face).
I'm putting up my "My Town Monday" post on The Living Desert in a few minutes at http://shaunaroberts.blogspot.com .
I like the old one. The new one it's hard to see anything but fish.
i like the new one... but then i guess that it's tough to have a photo of the one that got away
Can't hardly see you in the new one. I prefer the old. And welcome back. :)
Awesome fish.... I like either picture. Glad you had fun. Feel bad for the cell though. :(
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
That's a big fish, dude...
I like your integrity.
You could have photoshopped and fooled us all!
I run from change. Not that it's helped me avoid it at all. Stick with the old. Besides, the water background is gorgeous!
Yikes. Now how many meals is that baby worth. PS I'll have a post tomorrow night.
I've been getting my fishing gear ready for my own vacation. Can't wait. nice Striper.
Nice striper, nice pic, don't change it if it ain't broke.
Since I am NOT a striper fan, I say stick with the original.
Stripers and hybrids have been living in Beaver Lake, AR for quite sometime now, and I am convinced they are having a detrimental effect on crappie, smallmouth, and largemouth populations. The record striper caught out of Beaver is 59lbs! That fish will eat a 2 lb. crappie, or a 4 lb. largemouth with NO problem. I hate it when that happens.
I like um both - but change is good - plus that red t-shirt and bigger fish look GOOD!
Aloha, Travis
ps: My MTM post is scheduled to post: instructions for pulling into a beach park crowded with Hawaii locals.
Nice catch! hmmmmm...hard to say because I like both pictures, 2 different scenes, different fish...just put up the new picture for the record.
I like the water in the background of the old picture, actually shows where the fish came from.
Lunch! I personally like the more colorful new picture...the tree, the shirt, the fishy (which could be photoshopped to HUGE proportions--a fish story sized fish)
Most definitely, the new.
Start the summer with bigger and better.
I vote for the new pic. The fish is bigger ... and ... you are wearing a TX T-Shirt! Heck Yah!
Congrats =D
Out with the old, in with the new. Congrats on the big catch.
Go for a new look, new Travis new fish new cell phone!!!
Ring in the new.
Thats an awesome fish. If I'm really lucky, we're going to take a trip down to your neck of the woods this summer because the boys have never seen the ocean firsthand. Since Texas is just a little ways away from good ol' Colorado, its easier to get to than Cali' or Gatorland. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Wow, look at the size of that sucker.
And, yeah, that's a pretty big fish also.
(sorry, couldn't resist)
Eric - I'm actually closer to anywhere in Colorado than most of the gulf coast.
I like the new one! What a freaking huge fish!
And I was so proud for catching a small-mouth bass. He was like a quarter of the size, LOL!
In the old one, we can see your face. Keep the old one till you get one that is both newer and better
Nice to hear about the zoo. Growing up in Fort Worth, I was a bit zoo spoiled, maybe. I thought every town had a zoo like the Forest Park Zoo.
Nice that you're taking the boys to see the new animal house.
You have to use the one with the bigger fish...
Unlike some other things, size definitely matters in hunting and fishing.
SL
I think I like the new one much better. It's more colorful and close up.
I like the new one -- everyone needs a change! Besides, you can always switch back.
Keep the old one.
But next time, put a more strained look on your face and lie about the weight of the fish. :P
