It's Been A Threeling Experience

Three years to the day, and 625 posts later, here I am still blogging, thought not as prolifically as I once did.

Once upon a time I found it appropriate that I started this blog on April Fool's day. After all, most of what I say here is rather foolish, but I now know I'd have been a bigger fool not to have blogged.

I have had the great fortune to make many great friends as a result of this blog end despite the fact I've met very few of you in person I can honestly say y'all have been there for me when I needed you. I am not so sure I have anything fresh to say after being at it this long, but I truly appreciate all of you read regularly and comment when you can. There are a ton of blogs, facebook games, and other diversions out there and I'm very pleased that y'all continue to send a slice of your day here with me at this blog. Each and every comment makes my day.

Of course now I have a little favor to ask you. What posts have your read here that have stuck with you. I'd love to hear one or two examples of posts over the years that you found memorable. Whether they made you laugh, cringe, or simply think, Wow, that Travis is one wierd dude. Also, I'd love to know what first brought you here.

I thank y'all for three great years, and hopefully I'll be around writing the daily, frequent, weekly, okay fine, whenever I feel like it updates and observations of my life and the world around me.

Pulling lint from your belly (and storing it) has to make the top of the most memorable T.E. posts.

The one about your son being in the hospital was very moving and I will never forget it. But, also all the ones where you made me laugh out loud -- and there are so many of them! Hey, go read my blog today at www.criminalbrief.com

I second Deborah Elliot-Upton. The story of your son's difficult passage into life had me on the edge of my seat as I read it and has stuck with me since.

Although the story of you losing it over a burger with lettuce on it, all while not remembering you had a dab of white painted into your moustache, was pretty funny.

Happy Blogaversary! I love the Feedstore Chronicles and the Santa and bunny stories. But Travis, you have SOOO many great posts out here! It really could take me days and hours to put a solid list together.

I've been here less than a year but I swear I remembered something about pink panties. I was right.

When I reread it I remembered why I loved it so much and why I laughed so hard....

"Camo is supposed to hide, disguise things. The last thing men want to do is make the goods harder to locate."

But as funny as that was I think your wife topped it off with her comment, "I don't know if I want Vince Vaughn undies or Vince Vaughn's undies. hhahaaha."

After I read that I knew I'd always read this blog. Even if I do pull disappearing acts ever so often. :)

Travis, I can think of deep and moving ones, and laugh-out-loud (hey, that dude's weird) ones. I love them all, because they're you. I say keep writing the ones you feel. You're a success!

I love them all and I have a hard time making decisions. :-)

I can't choose just one, Travis. I read so many of your posts to my husband, and we both laugh until we are in tears. We BOTH need that after long, stressful days, and THANK YOU for providing that for us!

Looking forward to the next three years of your blog posts! :)

P.S. Not sure how I found your blog - - it may have been a random "next blog" search on Blogger, or it may have been from someone else's blogroll . . . sure don't remember, but am SO glad I did!

For me it was your graphic of a head of lettuce with devil's horns and a tail. I still laugh about that one when I see lettuce in the grocery store.

I loved Dogging It and the N deed.
But, the one that got you on my fav blog list was the one with the lettuce aversion.
You are a great blogger.

The one about your son being in the hospital is the one that sticks the most with me.

I found your blog via Blog Catalog, in early 2008, when I was just getting my feet wet with blogging and I decided to search out writing related blogs.

Believe it or not, yours was the first writing one that I found in '08, and the title of your blog is what reeled me in.

I think the post I'll remember is the one about the French prostitute being your muse. That was quite an interesting read, and had me laughing. Your Santa stories were also quite memorable. They reminded me of the stories I might tell from my time as a janitor, actually.

Then again, I've only been following your blog for I guess a few months so that's a relatively short time.

And I first found your blog because another blogger who I follow follows you. I think it was Debra She Who Seeks, though I could be wrong...

Oh yes, and then I also loved the one about when the kids got fixed on serial killers...I told my family about that one.

You have all these stories. I love every single one of them. They're all hilarious! I'd comment more often, if only I could come up with some more original than Hahahahahahahahaha!

I can't remember when I first started reading your blog. Maybe after reading some of your work when I was a contest judge (and loving it!). Your often offbeat way of looking at life always makes me laugh. And then you have a sensitive side that comes out in occasional very poignant posts. That's a winning combination! The one about your son's birth stands out for poignancy. And one from a long time ago about encounters with religious zealots sticks in my mind as one of the first laugh out loud clever posts that I read here. Can't recall the details, just that I loved it.

I'm new here, so I'm afraid I can't be much help. I can answer what brought me here, though. I came over because you left a comment on my blog and I wanted to thank you and say I hope to see you back soon - I love meeting new blogger friends!

The one that sticks to my ribs was where you were in the Burger Barn and they put vegetation on your food three times.

Hi

HAPPY THREE YEARS Blog birthday!!!!!!

This is the first post I've read of yours so I will say that I came here because you were so nice to wish my own silly blog a happy birthday too! But I was most intrigued by your profile!

My first MS (the document of which I've lost the password too - long story!) has a male protagonist as it's central character.

I think that's the joy of fiction writing. You can be whatever in fiction.

:-)

Take care

Congratulations on the 3-yr anniversary. LOL, I can't remember what brought me here, but I'm here most every morning (even if I don't comment as much as I used to). As for specific posts, I'm coming up empty. I stick around for your general wit. Keep the posts coming, Travis. =o)

The story about T is the one I remember most...I remember waiting and checking back to see the next part of the story. Thank you so much for sharing that personal story with us.

But really, I love all of your post. The way you can turn everyday events/observations into such insightful and FUNNY stories.

Congrats on your blogoversary!

the post that sticks out in my mind is the one about being pecked by an ostrich while doing ballet.
It's one weird image.

Hi Travis, nice hearing from you! I remember the posts after the fire--they were very moving, yet inspiring in a strange way because of all the support you received.

Congrats on making it three years. In the blog world, that's like Methuselah. I've got you on reader now, so I don't miss anything. Saw one of your comments on Mayer's blog and followed the link.

Don't tell the kids, the but post that came to mind fastest was the one about air fresheners. I tried to retell it to my family . . . . Even nothing is funny if the writer has the chops.

I'm sure that it sounds like a cop out, but seriously, your feedstore chronicles are still my faves!

(Belated) congratulations on your three year milestone.
There are many of us who are not as prolific as we once were but it’s hard to let it go completely…
Keep writing – keep communicating in the blog world – whenever you feel like it. No pressure!

Although I STILL can't understand your reasoning, I remember you most for your irrational fear of lettuce. (At my house, it is considered an emergency if we are out of lettuce.)

And for those of you that read Travis, don't forget to click on his ad links. He'll actually get paid a little. He can't ask (against the rules) but I can ask for him, can't I?

BTW, Travis, I woke up the other day with a nightmare. My blog had been deleted, all the material lost. Are you doing anything to preserve your blog?

Happy blogiversary! I have to say, the ones about your poor boy being in the hospital & the shocker about the fire probably stick in my mind the most. Hardship truly reveals who a person is.
